The Japanese flower arrangement "Ikebana" has a history of more than 700 years and has evolved with the times. In this workshop you will learn Sogetsu school, which is one of the biggest three Ikebana schools. Sogetsu school is free from formalities unlike other Ikebana schools. You can integrate new, innovative ideas to reflect your originality. Brighten your daily life by experiencing Ikebana flower arrangement. This activity will provide you the opportunity to appreciate the beauty of plants and flowers along with seasonal change and deepen your understanding about Japanese traditional culture.
Private Online Workshop Program
In this workshop, you will learn how to make basic flower arrangement of Sogetsu Ikebana school. First, you will learn about the history of Ikebana and Sogetsu school. Then, your teacher will show you the demonstration and explain about important points to know when making Ikebana arrangements. After that, you will make Ikebana arrangement under the instruction of the teacher.
For the first program, you will learn the most basic arrangement style. If you would like to learn more modern and playful arrangements, you can experience them after the first program.
This is a private activity and the workshop will be held exclusively for you, so we hope you can enjoy the workshop as if you traveled to Japan. Please also enjoy conversation with the instructor and feel free to ask questions during the interactive lesson.

A digital booklet for about 4-5 pages created by Michi Travel Japan (sent by an email). The booklet includes the information regarding the online workshop and introduces related destinations you have probably never been to for your next trip.
For a flower bowl, when we receive inquiry from you, we will send you some pictures of actual products and the total price for you to choose.
What to prepare on your side:
1 large screen to watch the workshop, space, table, table cloth (it might get dirty, so something easily washable/cleanable), chair, flowers and water
Please download Zoom for free on a desktop or a mobile device. After you book, we will send you a URL for video call.
When we receive your inquiry, we will inform you what kind of flowers and how many you need to attend the workshop.
Instructor of the Workshop
Rosen Kimoto Rosen Kimoto is a teacher of Sogetsu Ikebana school for over 30 years. She is experienced in teaching international Ikebana class and also offers private lessons at home. Her works are diverse from traditional styles to modern and innovative styles, which exemplify the concept of Sogetsu school expressing yourself freely. Her works have been displayed several times at one of the most famous traditional Japanese confectionery shops, Toraya in Tokyo.
