Sample Itinerary Overview
Day 1 Arrive at Kyoto 
Privately guided tour of Kyoto. Visit some of the World Heritage sites to learn about two major religions. Explore Gion, the entertainment district at your pace with a local guide. Stay at a deluxe ryokan for two nights.
Day 2 Kyoto
Privately guided tour of Kyoto. Enjoy a temple with an artistic landscape garden, a picturesque bamboo grove, and a Yuzenzome (kimono dying) workshop. Experience a tea ceremony, incense ceremony, and kimono wearing at a private villa. Full-course Japanese kaiseki dinner with Geisha performance can be arranged.
Day 3 Kyoto
At your leisure. An early morning Zen practice can be arranged. Stay at a deluxe hotel for 3 nights.
Day 4 Nara
Privately guided tour to Nara. Visit Nara's World Heritage temples including the Great Buddha and the oldest wooden building in the world.
Privately guided tour to Himeji Castle, a World Heritage site. It has kept its original design since construction. Then, visit Engyoji temple, a notable pilgrimage site.
Day 6 Naoshima island
Transfer by train and ferry boat to Naoshima island. Enjoy exploring the island with museums of modern art and architecture. Stay for one night, at a deluxe hotel designed by the famous Japanese architect Tadao Ando.
Day 7 Naoshima island / Nagoya
Morning at your leisure in Naoshima island. Move to Nagoya in the afternoon by ferry boat and train. Stay at a deluxe hotel for 2 nights.
Day 8 Seto
Privately guided tour to Seto, one of the six major ceramic production areas. Visit the Ceramic Museum and a pottery studio with history of more than 350 years. See the studio, gallery, kiln, and try making a ceramic pot.
Day 9 Tokyo
Transfer by bullet train to Tokyo. Afternoon privately guided tour to see the traditional side of Tokyo. Visit the Imperial Palace and Asakusa. Stay at a deluxe hotel for three nights.
Day 10 Tokyo
Privately guided tour to see the modern side of Tokyo. Visit notable museums with modern architecture such as The National Art Center, Tokyo. Enjoy strolling around Harajuku and Omotesando where you can check out teenagers' culture, the latest trends in design, architecture, and art.
Day 11 Tokyo
At your leisure. Recommendations can be made.
Day 12 Transfer to the airport
